I've been scouring the boards to find an answer to this one but not sure if it's quite specific, or may even be time-related. I originally linked my Spotify account to my Facebook account, but have since deactivated my Facebook account. I have tried to unlink and also tried the reactivation of Facebook to remove the App within Facebook's settings. I have now set up a dummy Facebook account with a different email address and have since tried to link to this, however, this doesn't seem to have pulled through my username and profile picture from Facebook. Prior to the deletion of my old Facebook account, the profile picture updated itself when I changed it on Facebook and my username was my full name, now it has reverted to the original username I had when I set up my Spotify account. Any help would be appreciated! As I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure if it just takes a little while to pull through as I only set up the dummy Facebook account last night.
Hey @davidwtpowell, welcome to the Community!
We've had a look at your account and can confirm it isn't connected to Facebook, which explains why you can't see a picture or your name displayed in the app. We'd suggest trying to connect your Facebook profile again. Keep in mind changes can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to be visible.
Hope this helps.
Hi @alealejandro,
thanks for your response. I've added the account again, however, it's still giving me the "connect to facebook" button within the account settings on the desktop app and have done the same in iOS app, where it says "you have already authorised facebook". Do you know whether the email address for Facebook needs to be the same as the address you use for your Spotify account or can they be different?
Thanks,
David
Thanks for your reply, David.
Actually, the email addresses don't have to be the same. Can you send us a screenshot from your desktop app showing what happens when you try connecting your Facebook account?
We'll see what we can suggest.
Hi @alealejandro , I've attached a couple of screenshots,
First is what I see in the admin section, then once I click the link I get the pop up to log in, however, things look exactly the same once I've filled my details in in the pop, I still see the connect to facebook button.
@alealejandro, I should add- I don't get any confirmation that the login has been successful, or unsuccessful, the box simply disappears and the connect button stays in place, I've just connected my account to a last.fm account (as I had one a while back) and it now appears that the last.fm button has changed to say "disconnect", so must have worked.
When I attempt connection on the iOS app, I get redirected to the web browser and see the notification "You have already authorised spotify". However, if I remove the app permissions on Facebook, then re-attempt, it does prompt me to login on the iOS app. After this, I still get the "connect to Facebook button.
Confusing!
Thanks for attaching the images, @davidwtpowell.
Does it help if you remove the app from your Facebook settings and try to connect your profile from the desktop app again? In Facebook, go to Settings > Apps > and click con the x icon to remove Spotify.
Let us know if that works.
Thanks for letting us know, @davidwtpowell.
It might be worth checking if Spotify is blocked in your Facebook settings. On Facebook:
Click the down arrow on the top-right.
In the drop-down list that appears, choose Privacy Settings.
In the Apps and Websites section at the bottom of the Privacy Settings page that appears, click Edit Your Settings.
In the page that appears, next to the Apps You Use heading, check whether you’ve blocked all platform apps from Facebook.
If you turned off all platform apps, a message says You Have Turned off All Platform Apps, Games and Websites. If you don’t see this message, then your apps are on — skip to Step 6.
Click the Turn on All Platform Apps link to enable apps again.
Click the Back to Privacy button that appears on the top-left of this page to go back to your main Privacy Settings page.
In the Block Lists section, which appears at the bottom of the page, click Manage Block Lists.
You then get to a page that lists all the applications you’ve blocked from Facebook.
In the Blocked Apps section, scroll down the list of apps you’ve blocked and see whether Spotify is there.
Each blocked app has an Unblock link next to it.
If Spotify appears in this list, next to Spotify, click Unblock.
Does this help?
Thanks for giving it a try!
