Giant ad with Justin Beiber on it. No thank you!

Today when I opened spotify on windows, I was greeted to a giant advertisement with a picture of Justin Beiber on it that was an ad for some greatest hits 2012 album.  By giant I mean big enough to hide all of the content on what's new.

1. As a premium customer, why would my content be hidden from me by a giant ad?  It was a truly disappointing experience.

2. Why would you ever show me an ad for a 2012 greatest hits album?  If you look at what I listen to...it doesn't quite match up.

I wanted to just make sure that this feedback was recorded.  Not sure if this is the right place for it.

You should not receive any adverts if you are logged into a premium account. Are you sure you are logged into the correct account and your subscription is active?

Hey there,

Very sad to hear if you don't like Justin Bieber. I'm a man in the same boat who hate all commercial music like Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga and Katty Perry or stuff like this. So I would suggest to CTRL + P or Edit + Preferences and remove Music Announcements from here.

Justin Beiber is now on it's way to trash from your Spotify.

I listen only underground or not so commercial stuff.

Strange, it wasn't an advertisement then, but a music annoucement. 

You should be able to turn those off by going to Edit (Spotify on mac) > Preferences > Sroll to the bottom > Music Annoucements > Hide on What's new Page (tick).

Hey guys,

I just wanted to confirm that this was a music announcement and I was able to disable it by changing my preferences.  Thank you for the quick reply!  I think this is fantastic that you thought of it and now spotify returns to the throne as my current favorite piece of software.

And of course, thank you for the music recommendations 🙂  I am kind of a classic rock guy but I'll keep them in mind.

I have a premium subscription and using the application on OSX, updated and got a gigantic ad. Who thought this was a remotely good idea? Maybe would have been slightly more tolerable if it was by an artist I would have any interest in. How do I disable this permanently?

Hey 🙂

There is currently no way to filter or disable adverts which you find distasteful in the Spotify client.
