I accidentally pressed the X next to Who to follow... "No more friends can be displayed"

I accidentally pressed the X next to Who to follow and now it is impossible to find friends to follow. In one click they're gone and Spotify tells me: "No more friends can be displayed". Is there a way to resolve this problem? Or are they permenantly hidden? (That would be the stupidest thing.)

You guessed it, and it is stupid but they are permanently hidden. You might be able to use an alternative method to find them though, check out thi tutorial:
