It seems inpossible to get Spotify without a credit card for me..

It seems inpossible to get Spotify without a credit card for me..

I want to pay for Spotify in Belgium but I don't own a credit card. So I saw the paypall option, I loaded money onto my paypall account and when I wanted to pay, they forced me to enter credit card info.. So that wasn't possible for me so I had to look for another way..

I live on the border of Belgium and Netherland. I finally found a store in Netherland who sold the spotify gift card, so I bought it and went home again ( in Belgium). I tried to add it and all of a sudden they tell me you can only use it in the country you bought it in.. If you want to change your country, please give us your credit card info...

What do I do now? I mailed Spotify and they haven't answered me yet. I have a Spotify gift card worth 30 euro and I can't use it..

Hey @erwinator 🙂

Would you be able to get access to an internet connection in the Netherlands?

Gift cards can only be redeemed in the country you purchased them, but Spotify allocates countries based on your IP address. So if you where able to access the internet in the Netherlands, you could then change the country on your online profile to Netherlands without entering your payment information which would then allow you to redeem your gift card.

Hey Peter,

Unfortunately I don't know a way to acces the internet there. I don't have any friends in Netherlands ( I live 30 km from the border, but there is a big city we shop in so thats why I got it from there) and my provider only works in Belgium.

Is there any other way that you might be able to help? I tried to exchange it but they won't take it back..

The only other way would be to:

  • Use a proxy from that country
  • Get a credit card from that country
  • Hope Spotify reply and sort something out 🙂

Hi,

I have a problem with subscription in Poland. I bought premium account month ago with bank transfer (thx for that possibility, I don't have credit card), and now a friend of mine want subscribe too. BUT, when we're logged into her spotify account, there is no possibility to pay with bank transfer, only credit card. When it's on my profile, there is this possibility. We're both registered as citizens of Poland, and loggin same day, same time, same computer and IP. I'd be thankful for help, maybe someone has any idea.

Regards,

Yeah I will try to find a dutch proxy, I guess it will be the only way because I still haven't received any answer from Spotify.. It's a shame they don't put up warnings for these kind of things on the packages..

@exxxile - It is possible that payment method has been removed from Spotify, if that is the case your subscription would continue to run but no new subscriptions could be set up that way.

@Peter - Thanks for Your reply, but the thing is, bank transfer still working for me, last month and this month, I'm just loggin into spotify and pay this way,  when my friend simply can't do this, this option is just invisible when we're logged on her account. May it depend on the date when she created her account? It was registered like a few weeks before mine - but I wasn't able to pay by bank transfer at the start too, I get this option few months after creating account and it's still on (and I'm very thankful, because having a credit card isn't very popular for young people, at least in my country). Lot of my friends here in Poland get this option too, the problem is just with this one account.

Regards,

exxxile

It is possible the payment method was available for a period of time, but has since been removed. If that is the case then as you say any subscriptions already set up would continue to work but no new ones could be set up.

Best thing to do is get in touch with the payments guys in your country, which you can do using the online contact form and they will be able to let you know the current available options.
