My account got hacked

Solved!

My account got hacked

My account was hacked around a day ago, I hadn’t noticed this since I wasn’t using the app too much today. When I logged in recently I had came across many playlists, artists and albums which I had never listened or known of in my life to be in my recently played. And around 4 hours ago the hacker added a song to my liked songs. Anyways what I want to know is that is there a way to get 2fa or smt on my account to protect it. I’ve already changed my password for security. If anyone could help me tks.

Hey,
Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for reaching out to us here!

Sorry to hear you experienced that, but we're here to help!

You said that you already changed your password, right? I also recommend some other steps to take:

Go to your account page and click SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE as well.
It's also strongly advised that you change the password for:

  • The email address associated with your Spotify account (e.g. with Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)
  • Any Facebook profile associated with your Spotify account. You can make sure you're the only one currently logged into your Facebook in your Facebook Settings, under Security and login > Where You’re Logged In.
  • Any service where you use the same password as Spotify.

And you can get more information about how to protect your account here.

At this moment, 2FA isn't available on Spotify, but there is a Live Idea here in the community requesting this feature. You can visit it and give it a Like to support it.

Stay awesome!

Let me know if you have further questions or need anything else! I'd love to help!

I've been getting a lot of login attempt emails on my account. How can I enable 2FA (two factor authentication)?

This is all great but how do you get rid of the artists, songs, playlists that the hacker left on your app/account????

My spotify account also got hacked by someone in Columbia. I did sign out on my 2 devices and changed my password but now any emails I receive from spotify are in spanish, which I do not speak or understand. Also all my playlists, and library is gone.

Any advice ??

Hey there, folks,

Sorry to hear that.

@SMH62, there's more info on how to add/remove items from Your Library in this article. In case you meant the recommendations you get from Spotify, I'm afraid it's not currently possible to reset your account's taste profile, but the best way to revert the recent changes is to continue listening to the stuff you enjoy and the suggestions will update over time.

@kquade, is it possible that you're logging in to another account? This article will help you locate the correct one if you are.

In case you are using the correct account, double-check if the country has been changed and set it properly. It's also worth checking if there are any recently deleted playlists in the Recover playlists section of your account page. Something else you can do is perform a clean reinstall of the app - this will ensure you're running the latest version of Spotify available.

Hope this helps. Cheers 🤘
