Receiving Spotify e-mails on an adress I have never given to Spotify

I registered with Spotify before the partnership with Facebook.

The other day I clicked the play button on a Spotify tune inside Facebook and suddenly I am receiving e-mails from Spotify that is adressed to my e-mail adress registered in my Facebook profile.

How is this legal?

I have never consented to giving this e-mail address to Spotify.

Hey 🙂

It sounds like you have created a duplicate account using Facebook. If you click a link inside Facebook and you are not already signed into Spotify, the Spotify client will launch automatically with your Facebook account signed in.

All you need to do is follow the instructions posted here.

Hey Hammeh,

Thank you for the swift reply.

However;

part of the problem here is that a Spotify account is created where my Facebook credentials are automatically handed over to Spotify without my consent or knowledge.

Spotify and Facebook are still separate companies and the end users should obviously be in control over essential information like who has their e-mail adress.

I do understand what you are saying.

I would suggest you drop the team a feedback message using the online contact form and let them know how you feel. You can also request your account to be closed if you like.
