Removing credit card info

Removing credit card info

I have two days left on my 30 day free premium trial on my PC. I have the Android app as well. I must have gave spotify my credit card info, in case I decided to pay for premium after that. I want to remove that information so I won't get charged. I may decide to do that, but I am definitely not comfortable with them having my information so they can automatically charge me before I can actually make that decision myself.

I also don't like not being able to do that without asking here. This kind of thing is the reason I have Android and not an iPhone. I can do things myself, and I don't need some administrator I've never met to change MY settings FOR ME.

I don't want to cancel my subscription, only take my information off. I don't think they can charge me anyhow, because I've replaced my card since then and have a new card code now.

If you guys want to keep me on Spotify, please answer.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

When you subscribe to the 30 day free trial, it is the beginning of a monthly rolling subscription, where the first month is free. Since you have signed up to a rolling subscription by doing so, Spotify will hold your card details to automatically charge you for subsequent months until you cancel your subscription. It is not possible to remove your card details when your subscription is active for that reason.

If your card details have changed, then it is likely your payment will fail anyways, meaning you will either need to update those details before your next renewal date, or resubscribe if your account reverts to Spotify free due to not paying.

I know that some people prefer to choose when they pay for Spotify, if you wish to do it that way instead of a rolling monthly subscription, then you can buy yourself a Premium eCard for a specified amount of time, and then redeem it against your account. That way, you have control when you buy premium.

I hope that all makes sense!

Every month game pass wants me to redeem 4 months free, and Verizon wants to give me 3 months; but because I do not share credit card info with anyone for any reason, I refuse to upgrade to anything but FREE.  (I payed for game pass with gift cards)
