Switching from Student back to regular premium

I am trying to update my payment info and I am no longer a student, but it keeps asking me to verify I am a student. How do I get rid of the student discount.

Hello @Kbcampbell. Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

It doesn't sound cool that updating payment info is giving you grief. Let's look into what we can do to fix this for you and get you back into the sweet sound of Spotify. ๐Ÿ™‚

 

Do you have an option labelled "Switch to Premium" on your Subscription page on the Spotify website? It might look similar to the button in my picture below.

If you do, try using it to go back to regular Spotify Premium. If not, let me know and I'll rope in one of the other Rock Star Community members for advice on what to try next. I'll be happily awaiting your reply. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am also having this issue but can't find that button or option anywhere. It just has links to "update your payment details" and when I click on that and enter my new info it still asks me to verify my student ID. I haven't even been on a student plan for the past year or two (it disabled automatically and I was paying full premium price).

 

How do I change my payment info and get rid of having to verify I'm a student (I'm not anymore)?

Hello @mk2208 and @Kbcampbell, thank you for your patience in this matter. I have some news after talking to another Rock Star Community member regarding switching from Student Premium to regular Premium status.

 

Currently, the best way to get this done is to contact Spotify Support directly, since the Student Discount cannot be removed through the website at this time. I apologize for this inconvenience, and hope that in the future there will be an easier option to do this.

If you receive an automated email, simply reply and an agent will get back to you as soon as possible.
