Upgrading from abroad

Upgrading from abroad

Hey there!

I guess this is a bit of a tricky one: I have signed up for spotify free in Germany about 10 month ago. I am very pleased with it and was planning to upgrade to premium. Now I moved to Canada, in which spotify is usually not available. But the FAQ and other postings say that with a premium account you can access worldwide. But whenever I want to upgrade now - with a credit card registered in Germany and the country information still being set to Germany - it won't take the card information and after some time redirects me to the "Sorry, not available in your country" page. I assume that's because my Canadian IP interferes and doesn't match the account/credit-card country. Anyone knows a workaround? Help greatly appreciated!

Hi @dessertsose and welcome to the community 🙂

The only way around this would be to use a German proxy or VPN. Be sure to use a private one however, as some log everything done on them.

However, it should work without this workaround really. Can you try a new browser, and ensure you have cleared all cookies and site data?

As well as that, whenever you go to a page on the spotify site, use the http://www.spotify.com/de to access the German site directly - and make sure whenever you do something, you're still on that site.
