Username

Hi,  I'm Lori. I love using spotify but I hate the username I created. I know you can't change it.  But I'm worndering, if I connect my account to my facebook will it change my public name to my facebook name?

Hi Loridancer - Once you've made a Spotify username it can't be changed. However, if you were to link to Facebook your name FB display name would appear in the application and in playlists. 

Your friends could also search for you via your FB name. Just head over to your Preferences Page to connect the two accounts: Edit > Preferences (in Windows) or Spotify > Preferences (in Mac)

I have the same issue with disliking username and would prefer to display my facebook name. I have linked my facebook and use my facebook to log-in but it still displays my username. How do I change this?

Where is it displaying your username?

In the top right of my homepage it displays my username with my facebook profile picture.  

It displays my username and no picture when I follow people rather than my facebook name. This is what I wouldl ike addressed so my friends can find me.

I can escalate this to the community team to look into this for you, however can you try one more thing first? 

If you log into the desktop client using your Spotify username and password, and double check it is connected to Facebook in the preferences menu?

I logged into spotify and went to connect with facebook. I was already connected but regardless my facebook name is now being displayed. Maybe it just took some time to update?

Could be, the Facebook integration has a mind of its own sometimes!

Sorry to revive a dead post but I think I have a similar issue.  I created my spotify account using Facebook so I know the accounts are linked.  However, my spotify username is some random number.   How do I get this change to something a human can search for?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

There is no way to change your Spotify username unfortunately. 

Since your account is linked to Facebook, any of your Facebook friends will be able to find out without knowing that number. The Spotify username that you have is just a generated one for the Spotify system to link your account to Facebook.

Same problem here; when I go to view my profile, my old username shows with no picture next to it. I have disconnected and reconnected to facebook... can you please verify that my actual name/picture is showing and not just ''mylenny01''? Thanks in advance for the help. ~

Can confirm your account is showing as connected to Facebook for me with your profile picture.
