Why cannot I pick a language of choice for the Spottify.com web site

I'm in Luxembourg and I can use the site in either German or French; not being a French or a German speaker, I prefer English, why cannot I select a languagge of choice if I do not like the default languages offered? Even if I set the URL to https://www.spotify.com/en/ it stubbornly reverts back to German, very annoying the site trying to be too clever.
