how to edit display name in 'recent activity' feed

how to edit display name in 'recent activity' feed

In the recent activity section of my profile, spotify uses my facebook name--but only the first part of my double name--i.e., it displays "Mary" and not "Mary Jane". That is, in the favorites section--as it is on facebook--my full name is displayed: for example, "Mary Jane Doe." However, under recent activity in my spotify profile, it just says "Mary."  My facebook settings indicate that my full name (first and last) are my display name. Is there a way to make sure the recent acticity display name matches the facebook display name? Or can I change my recent activity display name? Thank you!

Hey 🙂

I am guessing that data is pulled from Facebook. I would assume in the Recent Activity feed it is pulling just the "First Name" field from Facebook, which is specified on your Facebook account settings here. Unfortunately, there is no way to manually edit your name on your Spotify profile.

Thanks Peter!

My "First Name" from facebook is indicated as my double name "Mary Jane." That is, spotify, on its own accord, is diverging from the first name field specified in my facebook profile. I guess that spotify cannot process the 'space'? It seems that there should be a simple fix for this kind of glitch...

Thanks again for your response.

Yeah, it sounds like the code is splitting Firstname/Surname using the space character as the delimiter, I bet if it had a "-" instead it would work although that is a pain. Could be classed as a minor bug, but again I am not sure how it actually works, that is just me guessing!

Its not something I have ever come accross before to be honest! I would suggest you drop the Spotify team an email directly using the online contact form and see what they have to say too!

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hey Peter,

Just an update. I tried everything you suggested. Haven't heard anything from Spotify! And nothing has changed on my 'profile.' Frustrating...

Thanks for your help, though!

Hey again 🙂

Would you be able to post a link to your profile here? (Right click on your name in the desktop client, select Copy Spotify URI)

Also when you got in touch, you should have gotten an automated email reply with a case number in it. If you could post that here it would be good so I can ask someone to find out what happened to your email!
