You've created a new account and want to transfer your playlists and everyone you follow? Here's how you can do this:
⚠️ Note: Albums cannot be transferred at this time, so you'll need to manually save them again on your new account.
Playlists you've created or follow
- For the playlists you've personally created, make sure they are set to Public and have been added to your profile with these steps.
- Once you've confirmed this and added to your profile, you can safely log out of your old account.
- Log in to your new account and search for your old account's profile. You can do so by typing spotify:user:your_username in the search bar (you need to replace your_username with your old account's username), or by searching for your display name instead, although results may vary depending on how common your display name is.
💡Tip: If you're having difficulties finding the account, you can get your profile link while logged in on the old account. Just tap your profile icon at the top of the Home page and select 'View profile'. From there, tap the three dots menu and select 'Copy link to profile'.
You can paste this in the search bar while on the new account and press Return to load your old profile!
- Once you've located your old account's profile page, head to the 'Public Playlists' tab. All your playlists should now be displayed there.
- Tap on a playlist, then from the three dots menu select 'Add to other playlist' > 'New playlist'. This will create a carbon copy of the old one on your new account.
- Repeat step 5 for all of your playlists!
Liked Songs
As Liked Songs is a special playlist that differs from regular Spotify playlists, you'd need to use another approach to transfer it over to your new account. For this reason, we'd recommend using the desktop app instead:
- While in your old account where all your liked songs are currently located, open the playlist and press Ctrl + A [Windows] / Cmd + A [Mac] to select all items inside.
- Right-click on one of the songs and select 'Add to playlist' > 'New playlist'. This will create an exact copy of your Liked Songs, only this time it will be treated as a regular playlist.
- Now make sure this new playlist is set to 'Public' and added to your profile as you did with the others, then log in to your new account and repeat the steps from the previous section to save it there as well.
Artists/Users you follow:
While logged in the new account:
- Locate your old profile again (check out step #3 under 'Playlists you've created or follow').
- Tap the 'Following' tab and then select 'Follow' on all the artists and friends you wish to follow with the new account.
⚠️ Note: Keep in mind that your followers need to follow you back on the new account to see your activity.
💡Tip: after the process is complete, it is recommended you close the old account to potentially avoid any confusion in the future.
