Thanks for your feedback, everyone. As this is resolved, I'm locking this thread.
Some users were reporting issues with lockscreen controls on KitKat (4.4). If you want to weigh in on that issue, please do so in this thread.
Solved! Go to Solution.
This is just riddicoulus. I waited 2 weeks for 4.4 for my Nexus 4 and Spotify issue is still there!
I'm going to give them another week before I start looking for alternatives. After 3 weeks, I figure if a company doesn't provide a working client, they don't want me as a customer.
Only problem is - right now they have me as a customer. They just have to not screw it up (which they're doing, atm). If I switch, they have to earn me back.
Not that one subscription one way or other means all that much. But given how much their competitors push for new customers, I'm kinda surprised they're giving Android users the cold shoulder here. Oh well, not my decision. I just get to cast my meager vote with my dollars.
I'll ask one of the staff to look in but I can't imagine they'll have much to add to "we're working on it".
Hey everyone! We can assure you we've got the right folks on the case. We'll post again right here when we have an update or if we need any more info.
All the info you've provided is incredibly helpful--thank you!
Great!
Do you have a E.T.A. for the update/fix?
Same problem here. Nexus 5, Android 4.4
Obviously I have the same problem on the official 4.4 build on my Nexus 4. Here are a few screen grabs. If any other info would be useful let me know.
Same here, Nexus 4 running stock 4.4 no album arts.. ;(
Same problem here - Nexus 5, Android 4.4 and no album art.
😞
Same Problem Nexus 5 Android 4.4 / Kitkat 😞
I also pay premium for the pics, not only for music 😉
Yeah good point! Album art is staple on smartphone with huge screen..

Put it like this, Album art / art covers ARE part of the Premium experience. This has to be an urgent ticket for development.
Specially since 4.4 is starting to roll out to all devices. Imagine the kind of image you will give with a broken app.
Perhaps Spotify are going to give a complimentary, free month of Spotify usage to the customers they have annoyed and let down as a gesture of good will. After all, they have a Twitter account named @SpotifyCares. Let's see if this is true!
Same issue. Nexus 5 running stock 4.4.
I've been waiting on this fix for weeks! I'm regretting choosing to pay for Spotify Premium... I will most likely be making the switch to Google Music very soon.
I use Spotify daily, while it is disappointing that this bug developed, it also is a bitter feeling that it has been over two weeks with zero or very little support meanwhile the Ios app has various enhancements compared to the android app, I wouldn't be nearly as disappointed if I wasn't already paying for this (premium) service. Hopefully the Spotify devs have a plan for all this. Google Music isn't looking too bad right now....
