I've just left Apple Music to join Spotify because of Android Auto intergration and discoverd the exact same issue - tried 4 different albums and only one played in the correct order.
The only way I can make it work is if I actually use my phone, open the album and click on the first track of an album - which then makes the whole point of Spotify on Andriod Auto pointless.
Spotify's one and only solution was to unistall the app and try again - obviously that didn't work.
Reckon my membership might be ending before its even begun if they can't fix this
I am having the same issue and it is frustrating. I only tried by selecting the album via touchscreen but reading here I will try with voice commands and see if that works.
I had previously posted to one of the various other threads on this same issue - 'Albums forced to always play in"random" order' but turns out it had already been closed so probably got ignored...anyway -
I have this problem too. Android Auto on new Audi MMI system...also plays randomly through android auto app when not even connected to the car. Playing an album in order should be default and seems like a long running problem. Workarounds are not adequate, when driving when will this be fixed properly?!
There are various similar threads that claim to the support team claim they 'cannot replicate'. Given the number of people still having this problem on a variety of Android devices and you don't even need a car to test it, I think they need to look again as this is clearly not fixed.
I have the exact same problem. 2017 vw Amarok, android 7. Latest Spotify.
I am having this issue on my Insignia - I couldn't find a way to make the album play in the correct order no matter what I did. Can someone confirm it should be work with the latest version or what?
Shiny new Seat Leon, same issue with Spotify. A workaround I use is to create a playlist for each album. Songs in a playlist play in the correct order.
Correct. However, there should be no need for a workaround. You'd think that something as basic as playing a fricking album from an application that specializes in, ya know, playing music, would be a solid core function without mucking it up. And remember, this has nothing to do with what model vehicle you have. The same issue occurs just going into Android Auto, without connecting your phone to a car, and attempting to play an album.
This just boggles my mind how this issue can go on for so long without even acknowledging it's an issue, let alone fixing it.
This is a very frustating issue - I love listening to albums in order, and this has pretty much made it impossible while in the car. I have been a premium supporter for quite a while now - but I'm honestly considering just switching over to Google Play. They also don't have a problem displaying album art, which spotify also seems to have trouble with (on my Honda Accord).
Can't believe this had been a problem for close to 2 years. I just bought a car with Android Auto and I am experiencing the same problem. This is something so basic you wouldn't think there would be a bug and if so it wouldn't take long to fix.
