Android app taking up 1.7GB with no downloads

I've been having a lot of trouble with my android app in the last couple of days, so I uninstalled Spotify, restarted my phone, reinstalled, and restarted again with no change. The app currently takes up almost 1.7GB of internal storage just sitting empty without me even logging in, no downloads, nothing. Is this normal?

I use a Samsung Galaxy S5, Android 6.0.1, Spotify Premium user.

The cache acts as a buffer when you stream music to avoid drop-outs if your wifi/LTE signal falls. Also it means that when you stream a song you have listened to recently, it will play from the cache, saving your data usage. Before uninstalling the app, you could have cleared the cache as described here.

You can still find and delete the old cache folder "android/data/com.spotify.music" manually using a file manager.
