Android: "The track is not available"

Android: "The track is not available"

Hi,

I keep getting the message "The track is not available" on my android phone (and sonos system), even if I have a premium account. The service status in Spotify is OK, and it's working well on my PC desktop.  All devices were working OK until I renewed my account.....Any idea?

Hi. If you turn the offline mode switch off then it should go online - might take a few seconds to get the connection but should work.

I got the same problem.

Got the 30days premium trial at the moment. Most tracks won't work on my phone, while it are all local files on my PC.

For example, i got several playlists: 1 with metal and some with Drum and bass and dubstep. The metal playlist works, but the others won't. Keep getting the track not available error.

Tried logging in several times but didn't work.

Using a galaxy s i9000 with android 4.1.1 (Cyanogenmod10)

Me too. I have six tracks on my PC which are playing find in the desktop app and which are local tracks but which are shown greyed out on my Android app.  I have Spotify Premium.

FatFordyce, have you sync'd your phone with your dekstop Spotify?

If you're both on the same network at home then your mobile phone should turn up under "Devices" in desktop Spotify.

You click on it and click sync and your local files you've selected should turn up on your mobile phone.

This is the only solution that has worked for me. Unfortunately I cannot get my phone and pc to sync on my wifi connection. The only way I can get it to work it to tether my phone to my pc. What a pain. Please fix this asap

I'm getting this message on some songs. They play fine on my computer but come up as unavailable on my phone. I have the Premium service. I'm on Samsung Conquer.

I tried to sync per the above but it's not working. I use Clear wireless USB might have to go somewhere with wifi & try that to sync.

But still can't download playlists, it says 0% and I changed the settings as above to 2G/3G and even though my phone has 4G access, it's on 3G when I try to download.

The tracks that are unavailable some were downloaded directly from CDs & others were from Itunes.

Thanks 🙂

It's really a hit or miss here.  I thought it might be a copy right issue but I don't think so.  Example:   I have an 80's play list (File>import from Itunes) I added to the spotify desktop client.  My phone was already on my wifi network so it automatically shows that playlist on my phone.  54 of the 58 tracks will work on my phone in online mode. I looked to see if the 4 that are greyed out are available in spotify and they are.  This is so odd because it even shows some remix that is not on spotify (go figure) yet it will not play a more known song (fears for tears). Keep in mind everything works fine on the desktop client.  The only way I can get those 4 greyed songs to play on my phone is if I Go to Device>choose the device(ADR6400L) and Sync the playlist with the missing songs. It will start to download the playlist to the phone (but it only shows the download arrow on the four songs that are not greyed out which means it had to down load the songs to your phone to play and this took a long time). I wonder if the spotify cross checks to see if it has a song you are trying to sync with it library and instead of syncing in it, it uses its own library. If that is the case then the song names have to be exact (or maybe the tags). I have no idea but the only way I can get my greyed out songs to play is by syncing the playlist to the phone..Even though syncing the playlist and having it pop up on your phone when adding the playlist to the desktop client are two different things.

The other odd thing I just recalled is the very first time I added the playlist to the desktop client and then I installed spotify to my old phone, it all worked perfectly. Since then Ive had to replace my phone 3 times (personal reasons not spotifys fault).  Spotfy did not load the playlist correctly on those other new phones. Go figure.

One more thing I just noticed:

In spotify the download bar is at 5%  but the HTC's notification bar it states it is at 39 out of 58 tracks (68% complete).  Weird.

I have logged back in twice and it keeps telling me Sync Error. I don't want premium if I can't listen to specific songs on my phone.

I signed up for free Premium Trial yesterday, I have tried logging back in 3 times and I still cannot listen to the songs on demand on my phone. I'm unsubscribing if I can't fix this!

I have tried logging back in 3 times. I just got the Premium Trial yesterday. Spotify works great on my pc but my phone says I need premium. If I cannot get this fixed, I will have to cancel my subscription by Monday. I only wanted premium to listen to my phone while I'm working.

I was able to use the Spotify log in information  to listen to songs on demand. For some reason, it wouldn't work from my Facebook login information

Hi this has not worked for me. My Galaxy S4 won't sync to my computer, I have logged in and out on both computer and android app, I have deleted then reinstalled the app, and I'm still getting the greyed out tracks. And what's worse is once I reinstalled the app MORE tracks were greyed out! I have been a premium member the whole time and still am (so says my current account status). Please help!!

@Michaelrbarnes Does your android show up under "devices" in the desktop client when spotify is open on it?

@jwylot, no it doesn't. I've followed those steps to correct that too and that hasn't helped either.

Let me throw a checklist at you, just in case:

  • Make sure you are logged into the same account on both devices
  • Check that both devices are connected to the same network and subnet
  • Disable all firewalls
  • Disable all antivirus software
  • Disable any other security programmes
  • Make sure UPnP is enabled on your router
  • Reboot your router and your PC
  • Restart your android

I have had a premium subscription for quite a long time now and have never experienced this issue up until a month ago. Certain songs will play, certain songs will not play. Even some songs that i have already had for a while will say track not available. One album from an artist will play and another will not. This is extremely frustrating seeing as this is a new issue after many months of no problems.

If you are in offline mode the only music you can play is the music you have downloaded and is stored on your device.

To play tracks on Spotify you have to be online to allow Spotify to stream the music from the Spotify cloud.

I've had the same problem for days. It won't play online songs (This track is not available), and when I have the phone locked, it won't jump to the next track but just stops playing music.

I have had a premium account for more than two years, and it has worked perfectly up until then.

I hope it gets fixed soon..
