Can I control music without unlocking my phone?

I have a Samsung A5 and if I want to change the music, I have to put the code in, open Spotify and then change 😕 When doing sport it's really not handy.
Is it possible to put the controler on the unlocking screen? I think I had that function on my HTC M8.

You can see on the photo that I can see the title, but I cant interact with the music.

Can you not expand the notification by touching it and dragging down a little?
