Can't Sign in on Android Device

I just installed spotify on my Sony Tablet S and it will not allow me to sign in. I already have a spotify account on my ps3, and sometimes I use it on my laptop. I signed up for the account with my email address, but the account is also connected to my facebook. Every time I try to sign in it says, "you have already registered an account with this email address". This is regardless of whether I try to sign in with my username and password, or facebook.

     I googled the problem and found another thread somewhere about someone who had a similar problem. It was resolved by signing into facebook first, then accessing the spotify app from within facebook. This did not work for me.
