Can't connect to chromecast audio

I can no longer get spotify to connect to chromecast though until recently it did not have any problems. Chromecast shows up in spotify but when it tries to connect nothing happens (though very rarely it does connect). Same for another device. I can connect from other apps like Pandora. What is going on with spotify? I've rebooted both chromecast and my phone but no change.
