Can't play spotify when screen is off.

My device is a Xiaomi Mi3 running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. I've been tweeking my phone for almost a week now, and I can't seem to find a solution to my problem (as mentioned above). Need help with these. After 2 or 3 songs when my screen is off spotify suddenly stops playing.

Have you tried the battery saver settings as suggested by ArtemL in this thread? He said:

This issue can be caused by power saving tools.
For MIUI powered phones: settings -> battery & performance -> power -> app battery saver -> Spotify -> no restrictions.

Yes yes, i've already tried it. Even with the phone optimisation off.
