Chromecast doesn't show up when I get on wifi

Use case:

I am coming home. My phone connects to my home wifi. Chromecast isn't showing up in devices.

This used to work.

Now I have to kill the app in Android, restart it and only then will it show my devices correctly.

It baffles me how the app actually gets worse over time.
