My Question or Issue

Hello,

For 2 weeks, i often have trouble with the songs queue. Playlist is added twice in the queue, or songs from the previous session remains in the queue and won't let me play something else until I delete them. When I just want to add ONE podcast to the queue, between musics, it would play the next podcasts of the author instead of the queue...

Where is the Clear Queue button in the queue ? I can't see it anymore, is there any other way to clear the queue than cleaning the cache ? (Easier options than cleaning the cache every damn time...)

Hi there @99txaggie,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

Bear in mind that the 'Clear' option will only come up when you've added something to the Queue. This doesn't happen for the next song in playlists. However, if you're listening to a specific playlist and songs that are not included in the playlist keep being added, we can check.

First up, make sure you don't have Shuffle or Smart Shuffle enabled. Smart Shuffle adds recommendations to your playlists, so you can check if that's what's happening. You can also try clearing the app's cache by going to Settings > Storage > Clear cache. Then log out and back in twice in a row to re-sync the info on your account, and restart the Spotify app. Check if that helps.

On the other hand, if you're simply selecting a specific song and then different songs play after that, you might have Autoplay enabled. Try disabling it with these steps.

If what you're experiencing is different, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it. This will help us better understand what's happening.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply!

Greeting you with a waggy tail jooliet!

Sounds like quite the pain, "Clear Queue" is located right hand side of the screen just below the currently playing track in the Queue view. Hopefully that'll allow you to have better queuing control.

That looks like it's for the mobile app. The clear qeue button has disappeared in the web app, as far as I can tell. Please point it out for us if you see it. I tried to upload a screenshot, but I'd have to leave this screen and try to log in. I've had such bad luck with finding my way back to where I began, I'm not even going to try that.

Click the "Queue" button bottom right hand side and "Clear Queue" should be located in that menu/sidebar depending on app or web. Should is definitely the keyword here, lemme know if you are seeing anything different on the app or open.spotify!

I always download my podcast episodes so that I can listen to them even when I have poor internet reception. For a few days now, when a podcast episode ends, Spotify doesn't play the next one, but keeps putting songs in between and not returning to the playlist. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it?

No clear queue button my android app either

Just list of songs. Options to shuffle, timer or repeat but not clear

I can confirm I have this bug as well. No "Clear Queue" option in the android app.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out!

If you're not seeing the "Clear" button, then there most probably aren't any songs added to the queue:

If you have songs queued up, it should look like this and you should be able to see the "Clear" button to the right of Queue:

Can you try adding a song to the queue to see if it works for you?

Keep us posted.

No clear queu button anywhere.....it just banished.

Android app. No clear queue button. I have plenty of songs in my queue that I didn't add, and it constantly chooses the same songs over and over. With no way to clear them, it's getting really annoying. And it doesn't matter how I sort the Playlist, the same songs get auto added to the queue with no way to clear them.

There is no CLEAR option available. Now what? I’ve got a list of Japanese children’s songs playing as recommended for me. They are horrible!

No CLEAR option available, what a piece of faeces software/website this is. Paying premium money for this, not sure how much longer

Ah again I end up on this thread... it's so sad to see the clear option is still not present... @Spotify, what you say?

I am having the same problem - there's no CLEAR button, and songs form a queue just atrt playing in the middle or at the end of my playlist

Susan_GP

Logging out to clear the queue alone - is a poor user experience: let alone all of these other steps and considerations. It’s likely Spotify has overdeveloped and put themselves in a position where there are way too many compexities in features, fighting among themselves. Then - for anyone who is trying to deal with the queue while being connected to Sonos through wifi - Spotify does not handle the interaction delay well and once your in a playlist, I find only the play/pause works. External systems aside, I did find in the iOS app that in the queue if you hold the hamburger menu on an item to “select it” and then place it on top of what is “now playing” - a little tiny piece of text “clear” shows up. And that removes an individual item. However, if you are “now playing” a playlist, it will just add more to the bottom. There is no winning.

The source of annoyance here comes from there not being a master override “clear”. If I clear the queue - it should kill everything forthcoming while not disrupting the current thing playing - that’s a choice I’ve made. Users should not have to content with the implementation of shuffle and “AI”, conversely, that should react to the user’s choice.

This whole discussion is silly. It would take a couple engineers a a day or two to put a functional solution in beta. Please see that this is done.

Thank you,

Hi,

I am subscriber and love the app. My question is: let's say you've been listening to a playlist and in the middle of it you change your mind and want to listen to something else. How do you clear the whole playlist from the queue?

THIS is exactly what I need an answer to.

Hey there @LanceB86,

Thanks for replying here and welcome.

If you're listening to some specific content, and you haven't added it to the queue manually, it's expected that the Clear button will not show on the queue. In that sense, if you're listening to a playlist and want to change to another one, you simply need to hit play to it, so it starts playing. It'll automatically remove any other playlist/content you were listening to from the queue.

If you're seeing some recommendations being added automatically to your queue, it's worth checking that you have not enabled both Smart Shuffle and Autoplay, as mentioned by @Susan here. If perhaps your question is different, it'd be awesome if you could send us a more detailed description of the behavior you've noticed on your end and the specific inquiry you have. You can also add:

  • The make/model and OS of the device you use.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running.

Hope this helps. We'll be around!
