My Question or Issue

On the road, new premium member. Downloaded albums at home, before leaving. Started an album playing while at a rest stop, started driving. Album completed. Asked my wife to play another album for me. No albums would play because "no internet connection".

Is this normal? Is an internet connection needed to play a downloaded album? If so, whay? My phone normally switches over to data usage when WiFi is not available, so not sure why it wouldn't work this time. (We were on an interstate highway, though in a sparsely populated area. Presuming that Verizon still had coverage.)

Hey there @JCouchIL

As you mentioned, it looks strange that an Internet connection is required to play an offline album, so it's possible that you need to get the latest version of the Spotify mobile app. The best way to do this is by performing a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the app on your Samsung. Check out this help page in order to find the steps for clean reinstall on the affected device. Once you’ve performed the clean reinstall you'll need to re-download your offline music and podcasts.

If you don't see any difference after the clean reinstall, try disabling any power saving or data cleaning settings on your mobile device. Alternatively, you can try authorizing Spotify to run without restrictions despite the mentioned settings being enabled. Make sure you try this since such features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity.

Hope this helps. We'll look out for your reply.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was unable to test this solution during our return trip home. I will mark the solution as accepted.

Hey there @JCouchIL,

Have you tried to reinstall the app and see if that solved your issue with the downloaded albums?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
