I'll give you an example. I found this thread after searching for the same problem that I encountered. I asked it to play Rocket Queen by guns n' roses - and it instead wanted to play rocket Queen by a tribute band called roses and guns - it did this whether or not I specified guns n' roses as the band I wanted, and it does it consistently
To me it shouldn't be a mysterious problem: it shouldn't, for example treat rocket Queen by guns, n' roses and rocket Queen by roses and guns as two equal things. First of all, the overall popularity of the guns n' roses song should be a clue as to which one a person might be asking for. Second of all there should be some kind of meta tags or something else built into the back end where it can tell which one is a cover or a tribute and which one is by the actual band that made that song famous
Almost 3 years on and this is worse than ever.
Voice controls from Android Auto are useless.
Still having this issue, and have been for years. It feels like this happens at least 20% of the times that I use voice commands to play a song. Especially frustrating given that Google Assistant replies with the correct song title, and then Spotify is the one that plays a bafflingly incorrect song. Recent examples: "Got it. Playing People**bleep** by Slipknot" → Spotify plays "People**bleep**" by Richard Cheese (a parody cover!). "Got it. Playing Hyperballad by Björk" → Spotify plays "Hyperballad - The Stomp Mix" by Björk and Marc Bell (different title and different artists!). The first example is the fourth song result in search, and the second example is so far from correct that it doesn't even show up in the initial search results, you have to tap "View all results" to see it!
No meaningful response in this thread which is already so old, but also a lot of similar even older threads on this forum.
Apparently the Spotify team does not care about it's users that try to use voice assistants.

My Question or Issue
When using Google Voice Assistant (e.g. in the car), Spotify often seem to pick an obscure version e.g. live version or acoustic version. Even if I specify the album ("OK Google, by <song> by <artist> from the album <album>"), it still pics an obscure version. When Google confirms there's no mention of the obscure version ("OK, playing <song> by <artist>"), so I presume it's Spotify picking it.
How can I get the standard version?
