How to close the spotify app on phone?

Hi, I can't seem to close the spotify on my phone (samsung s22). When I close all applications, Spotify keeps appearing with my latest song when I swipe down my phone menu. How do I really close spotify because I don't want my latest song to keep appearing in the swipe down menu?

I think it has something to do with the app widget

Hey @Lianne2,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the Chats section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

If the app keeps appearing on the notifications bar after you fully close it, it could be related to an outdated version of the app, some damaged cache stored on your device. In this case, to cover both scenarios, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

Hope this helps. We'll be on the lookout.

Hi OscarDC,

Thank you for your response!

Unfortunately the clean reinstall did not work. My device is a Samsung Galaxy s22; OS version 13. Spotify version 8.8.48.523. Would you happen to know another option I could try?

Hey there @Lianne2,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

There should be a new version of the app available. Would you mind checking the Play Store to check if you could install the latest version of the app? If yes, try it to see if you notice any difference after that.

If this issue persists, it'd be great if you sent us a short video recording of what's happening, so we can better visualize what you're mentioning. You can attach the videos in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

Lastly, just to confirm, has the app always been behaving like this or did it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? Please send us the details about it. Make sure to check if the OS version of your device is up-to-date as well.

Keep us in the loop!
