How to play music from my computer on spotify?

How to play music from my computer on spotify?

I tried to put music that is on my PC in my music folder onto spotify - it let me do it - I can see the music as well however every single track is unavailable.

All the songs I'm trying to add are mp3 files

They aren't available on spotify - searched and couldn't find them that's why was trying to add the tracks from my laptop

I've made sure the spotify is accepted on the firewall - even tried the firewall off-

trying to play it on my sony xperia xz android phone

could it be because these songs arent otherwise available on spotify? the songs have been downloaded through various sites inc youtube changing to mp3 - could it be because of licence issues

any ideas?

Hey folks,

Welcome to the Spotify Community and sorry for the late response as we just came across this thread.

On Spotify, you have the option to play the audio files stored on your device, along with all our music catalog. We'd recommend checking this article to make sure you're following the correct steps to show/import the local files for your specific device.

In case the issue persists, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device. Taking this into account, we'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
