I want to use Spotify like Pandora?

Let me explain:

I'm not a huge fan of playlists per say, the type where you put all your favorite songs , maybe shuffle the list and then play all of thoise? I like being surprised with variety. I want to be able to indicate I like certain songs/ bands and have Spotify play their music/ ssimilar music. Is there a way to do this? A way to add songs/ artists to that pool when I find them? Sorry I'm new to Spotify.  T_T
