Local Files Album Art Quality

I've got some Local Files of albums which I make into playlists, and the album art carries over without a problem. However, when I download the playlists on my phone, the consistency is the cover quality is very sporadic.

The problem is I can't seem to find a pattern in the type of image that causes the change in quality. Some of my largest images give some of the worst quality, and some of the smallest give some of the best (and vice versa obviously).

I've attached two examples, with the original album art that is in the metadata and then how they show up on my phone.

Anyone got a fix or have an idea what the problem is?
