My Question or Issue

I have added local MP3 files to Spotify app in my computer (legal files: I make songs as a hobby. I also tried syncing the royalty free MP3s from YouTube studio)

I want listen to sync these songs in my Android device. The Spotify playlist that I create with my Computer is readily shown on my mobile device. But inside the playlist, all the songs are greyed out. If I try to play it, the progress bar starts at the bottom, but it crashes. If I try to download the song, I get a message "Couldn't download song".

I did try looking at previously provided help, but didn't work for me

can you exactly tell where'd you put songs in your phone?
i guessed that you can do that and it will work, but i just waited for support to tell it. guess they will never 😄

I have the exact same issue. Have done 3 clean reinstalls on my laptop and android with no luck. The playlist with the local files shows on my phone but it is empty, and the playlist on my laptop shows the local files (the download option is on the playlist so they should have auto-downloaded onto my phone's playlist).

So I then added a random song on spotify to that playlist and it does not even show on the playlist on the laptop, so it's as if the playlists are not syncing at all. I also tried it the other way, added a random song on spotify from my laptop to the playlist and even then that does not show on the playlist on my phone.

I have also moved the local files around to different folders to try and see if that works, it did not.

I'm on the same private WiFi network and have the latest app versions installed on each device and my firewall allows sharing. I've been at this for 6 hours with no luck.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your replies and insights.

We'd like to make sure if you've tried using the Spotify app you can download from the Microsoft Store. If not, please give it a try.

@smileangel Could you also try creating an internet hotspot with the steps I shared on one of my previous posts?

@Scripach Downloads are stored in the form of cache inside Android's folders, so you won't find actual audio files on your phone.

If the issue persists, please try the steps that @haricane8133 shared and that worked for them.

Let us know how this goes.

Hi @MafeG

We've been discussing this issue in another thread, which does advise I've tried the hotspotting and other troubleshooting steps that are all over the threads
