Lossless Files

I have some lossless files that I have imported to Spotify.  I have synced these files to my phone (HTC Desire S) for offline playing but when I try to play one the Spotify app closes.

Is it possible to play lossless audio files via the mobile Android app?

According to Spotify online user guide/help, Spotify doesn't support lossless file formats at all, never mind mobile's.

This is a shame, and I can't see why. Haven't spent a fair bit of time re-ripping my CD's to lossless, and just linked Spot with my local files, I've found it's simply ignored all my lossless files! 

Great shame, and more than slightly annoying...
