Lost place in playlist when paused.

The way i listen most of the time to my downloaded music is to choose a playlist and hit shuffle play. When I pause a song and use other apps on my S5 but keep Spotify open in the background, about 90% of the time when I go back to the Spotify app to continue listening, the spot where I paused was forgotten, so I would have to begin again from scratch. Is there a way to keep the place so I can continue where I left off?
