Multiple offline devices registered to same phone, deletes all music

I've recently installed an SD card to my Moto X Play. After finally getting it to download my music to the SD card, I'm still having issues. Spotify frequently gives me the "no storage area found" error, which is fixed with a phone restart. However, now I receive a message telling me that I've hit my device limit, and Spotify will now helpfully delete all music from the device. When I check my offline devices, it's all the same phone, registered again and again, every day or so.

I had this happen too and it was down to a faulty SD card. I'd try the following steps.

 

  • Clear spotify cache and data from spottify settings
  • Uninstall spotify
  • Reformat SD card in the phone
  • Remove all offline devices from your account
  • Reinstall spotify, setting the storage option to SD card

 

If you still have problems, maybe try a different SD card.
