Hi guys,
Been experiencing this before the previous system update. Music will stop every single time that the phone is being locked and goes to sleep mode.
I have no data restriction, no powrp saving mode activated and no system cleaning apps, but still happening and it's super frustrating not being able to listen to music!
Anyone been with the same issue? Anyone knows how to procee?

I've been experiencing the same issue since the last Android update (9) on my Samsung Galaxy S8. I've browsed around the settings and tried a bunch of stuff and it seems like I have found the issue that was going on in my case. When I go to the battery usage option under device maintenance and selected the app usage of Spotify, the following was toggled on: "app in sleep mode" which causes Spotify to be disabled when the phone enters sleep mode. (I roughly translated it, my menu isn't in English). So far my music hasn't stopped playing. I hope this also solves the issue in your case.

Same thing is happening to me since the last Samsung update. I've theough every possible setting and nothing seems to work.
I have it set to not sleep and I even made sure it stays on when it is in power saving mode.
Very frustrating. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would love to know.

Thanks for reaching out to us.
Please do a clean reinstall. Before that, you'd have to disconnect all your devices for offline listening from your account here.
Then follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings on your phone.
2. Select "Apps".
3. Tap "Spotify" in the app list.
4. Tap on "Storage> Clear Data" for a clean reinstallation.
5. Tap Uninstall.
6. Open Google Play and install the Spotify Music app.
There is something else you could do if that does not help. Go to:
1. Mobile Settings> Apps> Spotify> Permissions. Allow everything you see there.
2. Mobile settings> Apps> Spotify> Battery> Optimize battery usage> select All (not optimized for apps)> Spotify> disable.
3. Restart the phone.

My Question or Issue
After android resumes from long sleep Spotify plays current track to end,
than nothing is hears but timer still ticking far longer than track length and no sound at all..
If i rewind - track name changed, but both times still same, first still ticking.
If i press ... menu at top right corner - it tells that something with internet connection on both WiFi and Mobile. Other apps works fine.
Switching to flight mode or mobile traffic - not helped.
Only help to hard kill app.
Very annoying
