So, a couple of days ago there was a new update for spotify on my phone (samsung galaxy y pro), when i updated spotify it stopped working like i could no longer click the spotify button since my phone screen would just turn black for no reason 😮 ive had no problem with spotify on this phone before so i was just wondering if there are any other people who have this problem and how to solve it :P? Also, is there any way to degrade spotify to the last version of it (since it worked with that version:P) aaaaand i have tried all troubleshooting things 😛
Glad it worked but I think you may have used the wrong login credentials. Check that your subscription status on the desktop client shows "premium subscriber. If it does, you should log out on the android and lg back in using the same credentials (facebook login?).
Thank you jwylot for your solution, now I can reopen spotify without finding the dreaded white screen.
I hope the spotify guys find a solution to this soon, or at least that they test every new version properly before releasing it.
Hi again,
I chickened out when reading that IF I install another version, the fact that I'm a premium member doesn't remain.
So, I cant use my Spotify the way it is and if I re-install I might loose the membership ID.
What to do? 😞

Such information is stored on the Spotify servers so as long as you sign in with the same credentials, everything remains the same.
Hi,
I did use the same name and password, I got all my playlists saved. Any idea on what I should do?
If your desktop shows that you are a premium subscriber then you logged in with the wrong details on your mobile. Did you log in with your facebook credentials?
Well, what am I to say?
I did according to you advice, went to the address on my browser you wrote about, and downloaded Spotify (again).
When after that opening it, I STILL HAVE THAT WHITE SCREEN!
Did I do something wrong???

What version is shown when you go to your android settings > Apps > Spotify?
Hi folks,
I cannot imagine the app not being proof-tested for earlier version of android. The blank screen, of which you can find the capture here under, is pretty irritating, especially when you are a premium member (for years, if I may add...)
The service has been great up to now, which is the reason why I did not give a bad review on the Market. But this is unacceptable, and further more, with the actual boom of this online music market, it really is a bad move.
In my case, the activity is properly create and started (the first launch of the app works smoothly) but something goes wrong when switching back from another activity/view after a while (few minutes). So I suspect something is wrong somwhere in the onRestart() or in the onResume() function (although the first run, as said, is fine).
Problem: White screen, menu/return buttons not working, home button working, music still playing in the background (if playing)
Solution: kill the process and restart the app
Phone: Samsung GT-S5830 (Galaxy Gio)
Android: 2.3.3 Gingerbread (kernel 2.6.35.7)
WLAN/HSDPA: problem happening all the same
Provider: Blau.de, Germany / SFR, France
Troubleshooting: tried clearing the data, the cache, proper uninstall/reinstall (dowwngrade or factory reset are unacceptable)
Memory: 16Gb SD card (free space: 10Gb)
ROM: Standard
Spotify: 0.6.0.17 (updated beginning of May 2013)
Account: Premium (not for long if the problem is not solved quickly)
Type: Spotify (not Facebook)

An unhappy customer

Thanks for your report and welcome to the community. Version 0.6.0.20 is available on Google Play which should fix this issue.
It seems to have solved my issue, as I cannot reproduce it. I hope this latest update will do the trick for every one.
Thanks jwylot for the quick reply.
Regards
Joe
all my thanks to your kind efforts trying to help me.
Just a few hours ago I was notified that there is an update which they say should do the trick.
And it does!
Everything is back to - listening to my music!
Again, many thanks!!
Sara
