Nexus 10 playback stops at EXACTLY 12 seconds

I've tried everything, including reinstalling spotify. My internet connection is fine, but when I open spotify it takes around 15 seconds just to go online. And then no matter what song I play, it stops at 12 seconds exactly. The progress bar for the song keeps on going, but no sound plays. Also, if I press pause then it jumps back to 12 seconds. Does anyone know how to fix this??  I've also found that if I set it to a higher quality, the playback stops at 5 seconds instead...interesting...
