Whenever I try to open spotify on my phone it doesn't work. It sits on a blank screen. I tried to uninatall and re install and that did not help at all. I pay for spotify premium so this is very irritating. What can I do to fix this?
Only thing that is good to know.
the android version
I finally had luck with un installing and re installing. But AT LEAST, once A day i have the same issue and i have to restart my device in order to get it to work. Have you had any luck yet?
Hello everyone. Thanks for the reports. We're investigating and will post back as soon as we have an update.
Hello everyone,
Our Android team is investigating and we hope to have a fix available in the next possible version of Spotify. However, we're having trouble replicating it ourselves and a fix depends on this. We hope this will be fixed in the version after next but we can't guarantee when the fix will be in.
It would help us hugely to work together with you to find reproduction steps. Please contact us here so we can make sure we help those of you experiencing this issue as best possible.
For about a month now, this has been my problem. I can't open Spotify at all on my Samsung Galaxy S4. It's a blank black screen with the message "Unfortunately, Spotify has stopped" with the option to send a report, which I've done about 50 times, including my system data. I'm using Android version 4.4.2.. My phone does not need to be updated, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify countless times, always restarting my phone before and after installation. Spotify works on my computer and iPod Touch, but not my Android phone.

Hey @brebre334 when you get the blank screen are you just running Spotify? Or are numerous apps running in the background? The more info we have the better--thanks!
I just got the L720T (Galaxy S4 Spark) as a replacement phone today..
Everytime I started the app I kept getting Unfortunately Spotify has stopped.
What I did to fix my issue was:
1. Settings > More > Application manager
2. Went to the download tab
3. Clicked Spotify
4. In this order did.
- Clear Cache
- Clear Data
- Force Stopped
5. Now I can open it without any force close issues.
Hopefully this helps.
I am having the same problem. It keeps saying it has stopped. I have uninstalled it several times. I even received a new phone through my insurance because my old phone broke and it is doing the same thing. The only way I can use it is if I restart my phone. 😞 Please help

Android 5.0.1
None of these suggestions or fixes work. AT ALL. You cannot delete anything from the SD card pertaining to Spotify and even if you do get it deleted from a windows machine, all the files you delete just come back. This is a joke. I cant install the app on the phone storage and store the offline files for use on my SD card anymore?
I'm on a Galaxy S4 on Android 5.0.1 with a SanDisk Ultra 32GB Micro SD HC1. This is basically what worked for me.
One time when I loaded up spotify, it started hanging on the opening screen. After this, my phone started having issues in general so I uninstalled the spotify app and continued to have issues where my phone would randomly stop accepting any input (including from the power button), or would restart on it's own. This happened about ever 10 minutes of use even after uninstalling the app. I wiped the cache partition on my phone and continued to have the same problems, so I factory reset the whole phone. Things went back to normal until I reinstalled the spotify app, at which point I began having the same issues as before. In order to fix it I had to:
1) wipe the cache partition
2) factory reset the phone
3) format the external SD card
4) remove the SD card
5) reinstall all my stuff (including spotify).
I haven't yet put the SD card back in the phone because I'm a little scared that it might act up again, but this has more-or-less fixed the issue for me, although it was a little painful.
