My Question or Issue

I'm aware this issue has been marked as resolved as of app version 9.1.36, but I'm on version 9.1.58 and the issue is persisting.

When playing a playlist, playback stops around 2 seconds before end of song. Clicking play will resume the last two seconds of the track and then transition to the next track. Issue continues between tracks

Occasionally, when starting playback on a playlist, playback will stop one second into first song.

I have disconnected apps, reinstalled the app, cleared the cache, and turned off gapless playback and auto mix, these have not fixed the issue.

Hey there @JonahPerry,

Thanks for posting here in the Community.

Kudos for all the troubleshooting you've tried so far! Just to confirm, does this happen when opening your account on a different mobile device? If possible, you can ask for the mobile device of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.

We'd also like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • Does this happen when the playback comes from a connected Bluetooth device?
  • Does this happen over WiFi? 4G/5G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you change the network your device is connected to?
  • Have you noticed if this is happening when playing specific playlists, e.g. the ones created by you?

Keep us in the loop!

Hello, i have been having the exact same issue for the last 2 months.

I tested all the different solutions like clearing cache, reinstalling, changing music quality between low, high and lossless, gapless playback on/off, automix on/off, crossfade different times betwen 0 and 12s, autoplay on/off, mono audio, ... and so on. basically tried toggling every single setting.

The issue also persists when using headphone, earbuds and speaker. All of which are bluetooth devices.

I also tried unshuffled playlist, shuffled playlist, smart shuffle, random songs by searching them, spotify made playlist.

All of them over wi-fi, 5g and downloaded.

The issue is very inconsistent. Sometimes i go 1 hour without interruptions, sometimes its every single song.

This has been going on for 2 months atleast.

I also recently tried joining the beta version 9.1.60.1970 and it still happens.

Thanks for joining the thread, @deadapunk!

Could you folks confirm if this behavior occurs with playlists only? Have you observed it with albums, for example?

If you're using any sound enhancing features outside of Spotify (such as Dolby Atmos or other third-party apps), try disabling them to see if that makes a difference.

Let us know how it goes 👍

Thanks AlejaR and Yordan for the suggestions!

The issue was occurring when using Bluetooth devices, not when playing directly from my phone, when using Wifi or Data. Removing the Bluetooth device and reconnecting it temporarily fixed the issue, but it would still reoccur after an indistinct amount of time.

However, I'm now on 9.1.60.1970 and the issue seems to have stopped, but I will continue investigating if it returns!

I have also not been experiencing it on 9.1.60.1970. Must have had an overnight update just before i made the post and checked the version number at that point.

I have the exact same issue, also One Plus Nord.
This is one of the most annoying bugs ever and it's not even consistent. Not related to headset or speakers because the issue persists when listening via the phone speakers.

I just installed the latest version, it did not fix the issue. 9.1.62.1601.

My Question or Issue

Spotify randomly stops playing songs even though the playlist has not ended. It does did with multiple playlists and on multiple devices. I've already tried the listed solutions on the Helpdesk (turning off battery saver, turning off datasaver, deleting Spotify and redownloading it, clearing the cache, listen in Offline mode, listen on the online version...). The problem is still there. I also have the latest version of the Spotify app.
