Pressing play on an Android Wear device resumes music on the phone, not on a Spotify Connect device

The Spotify app for Android allows controlling the music playing on a desktop computer, console or the like via Spotify Connect. Similarly, the app allows controlling the music on the phone via an Android Wear device, such as a smartwatch. However, you cannot properly control music playing through Spotify Connect from an Android Wear device. If you have music playing on a desktop computer, you can pause it from Android Wear, but when pressing play again, the music resumes on the phone, instead of on the desktop computer, as it should.
