My Question or Issue
I have a playlist with a series of albums that play through in-order because there's a story. There are roughly 100 songs in the playlist, and I do have the playlist downloaded to save on mobile data. If I start playing the playlist and look at the queue, it shows the normal 80 songs you would expect.
However, spotify can seldom play all the way through the playlist because it will randomly cut off the queue to only 4 or 5 songs. This tiny segment of the playlist will play and then the music will stop (or switch to [artist] radio). There is no indication that this is happening until the music stops.
I figured out what was happening when I turned on repeat. Once the queue gets cut off, spotify will repeat those 4-5 songs only. If I skip to the previous song, it will skip "backwards" to the last song on the queue, as if I had built a tiny playlist.
It tends to happen most often when I am connected to my car or my JBL Flip 5 via bluetooth. I can sometimes induce this error by skipping a song with the forward button, or restarting a song with the back button.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a clean app according to the instructions I've seen linked on so many other questions, but the problem still occurs. Given the absolute clownshoes design of spotify's queue in general, is this somehow just the intended behavior of spotify's queue, or some feature that I'm just using wrong?
Hey folks!
Sorry to see this is still ongoing.
We are going to try to prioritize this investigation in the hopes that we can finally get to the root cause and fix the issue.
If you haven't already, please let us know the following details:
Many thanks in advance. We'll do our best to get to the bottom of this asap.
I had a similar issue. 2 songs would repeat multiple times, I've had up to 10 repetitions each, once you skip them all it's normal again, but it's bizzare.
E.g.
Song A
Song B
Song C
Song D
Song E
Song D
Song E
Song D
Song E
...
Song F
Song G
Back to normal.
Funny thing is, leave shuffle off, and it still repeats the same songs. I had one of my daily playlists going, and two songs repeated itself twice before the rest of the playlist continued.
I am having the same issue whenever I connect to a bluetooth speaker -- it plays the first two songs then restarts the playlist, even if I skip songs it goes back to the first two again
I've got the same problem. I'm using v. 8.7.92.521
It is currently happening. Its 4pm on Jan 4th, my timezone is gmt +1. I've got a xiaomi poco x3 Pro, running android 11 and miui 12.5.5
I can't tell exactly what triggers the behaviour, but I keep switching between listening via Bluetooth in my car, and over my WiFi sonos speaker at home.
Its difficult to capture the exact behaviour on a recording because when I skip tracks manually, it temporarily breaks out of the loop. But once I let it do its own thing again, it starts looping again.
Here's a link to a recording https://photos.app.goo.gl/TJ2zdBSEQK8FmdXK9

I can confirm this issue as well, happened on my iPhone 7, now on iPhone 13 as well.
Here my observations:
It happens only when resuming play after full restart of the app.
the playlist loops then in 5 songs, the UI still shows the full playlist playing (3 little equalizer lines behind the playlist name).
After playing the 5 songs it stops. Sometimes even the loop function activates somehow, and the play restarts with the first song. When Autoplay is activated, it continues playing (and downloading!!) music from wherever (and I dont want to listen).
when I search now in the playlist the last of the 5 songs and select it for play, the playlist continues to play as expected (the only workaround I am aware, obviously not nice when youre in the middle of the fitness exercise or at full speed at the bike).
issue is present for more than a year, would be great to get it solved one day soon.
I've had this problem for about two months, and it is driving me bonkers. Sometimes I'll hit shuffle, and a playlist will play through without a problem. Other times (like now, leading me to post finally), it will shuffle 4-5 songs and then get stuck on those songs, in that order, until I **bleep** off and play something different entirely. I've gone so far as to uninstall the app everywhere and sign out of all devices because it doesn't make sense. I removed all of my downloads, cleared my cache, and did everything that came to mind, short of deleting my account and starting anew. I just want to listen to my music.
Having the same issue…
For me, if I try to play a playlist (shuffled or not) it will only let me get through the first 2-5 songs that are in the queue before looping them again. I can’t get past those few songs that the playlist will let me play in any way, no matter how many times I skip them.
Something that I’ve noticed is that it only occurs when playing music through another device through the “select a device” menu. I don’t find the issue occurring when using bluetooth, my phone speakers, etc. It is only when I play songs through the “select a device” menu then try to play a playlist.
I have been having this issue for the past few weeks as well, and it also happened to my mom when I was visiting over the weekend.
Today I found it's specifically my phone streaming to my Google home device. If I start the Playlist from my chrome book (using the downloaded player), it seems fine, but if I go to my phone to switch to a new Playlist, the glitch happens. I went back to my chrome book and started a different Playlist and it was fine.
I'm using an android phone, with Spotify version 8.7.92.521 if that's at all useful at this point.
I have the same problem!!!! Spotify can you please fix this! Again a new problem after not being able to see my friends activity for over a year now!!!
Same problem here. Any word on a fix? Appears to be a long-term bug without resolution.
Queue doesnt work for me to... Since december patch...
Plz Spoti gave us solution... My big playlist is suffering... http://spoti.fi/2no9DgK
I need it for my work. Working like before, not every day refreshes(Desktop Aplication doesnt rmbr queue) and looping 2 song after 5-6 hrs 😕
PLz help!
No sense now for paying Premium Spotify 😕
Same problem here as well for everyone in the family (same account). In all speakers and phones. Can only hear 5 songs in a playlist.
This is not account related, it’s happening to me the last week or so.
I am having same issue and happening right now. Been happening with increasing frequency on last 3 days. Was sporadic but been a problem consistently for last 3 hours . Listening via sonos speakers via the iOS app.
I’m also observing this same issue. iOS 16.2 and latest version go Spotify. It’s driving me insane. I’m seeing it on artist radio for multiple artists. Recurs if I’m using Spotify to play audio from my phone or Spotify connect. Same songs repetitively.
This problem is happening to me more and more frequently on a google smart speaker. When I switch to Bluetooth streaming from my phone it resolves.
Seeing the same problem for the past 2 or 3 weeks. Seems to be mostly through Spotify Connect.
I’m having the exact same problem, and have been for the last few weeks, I’ve got 10000s of songs, but it’s making me want to cancel & just go to Apple Music
Hey folks,
Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Would you mind sending us the info @MihailY and @Alex requested above? We'll pass it on to the right team.
Thanks!
It’s happening again right now, when each song ends it loops to the beginning of the playlist
is there no update on a fix?
