My Question or Issue
I have a playlist with a series of albums that play through in-order because there's a story. There are roughly 100 songs in the playlist, and I do have the playlist downloaded to save on mobile data. If I start playing the playlist and look at the queue, it shows the normal 80 songs you would expect.
However, spotify can seldom play all the way through the playlist because it will randomly cut off the queue to only 4 or 5 songs. This tiny segment of the playlist will play and then the music will stop (or switch to [artist] radio). There is no indication that this is happening until the music stops.
I figured out what was happening when I turned on repeat. Once the queue gets cut off, spotify will repeat those 4-5 songs only. If I skip to the previous song, it will skip "backwards" to the last song on the queue, as if I had built a tiny playlist.
It tends to happen most often when I am connected to my car or my JBL Flip 5 via bluetooth. I can sometimes induce this error by skipping a song with the forward button, or restarting a song with the back button.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a clean app according to the instructions I've seen linked on so many other questions, but the problem still occurs. Given the absolute clownshoes design of spotify's queue in general, is this somehow just the intended behavior of spotify's queue, or some feature that I'm just using wrong?
Hey folks!
Sorry to see this is still ongoing.
We are going to try to prioritize this investigation in the hopes that we can finally get to the root cause and fix the issue.
If you haven't already, please let us know the following details:
Many thanks in advance. We'll do our best to get to the bottom of this asap.
I've noticed this as well (and don't mind saying what a pain in the **bleep** it's been when embarking on a long motorcycle ride and I think my playlist is ready to go! lol).
I regularly play and switch between the Desktop App and my Android.
I normally have music running on my desktop through bluetooth headphones or through external speakers or through my phone and through bluetooth headphones or helmet bluetooth hookup. I can send all the details but I don't think they're the issue.
I only listen to playlists that I've created. Whether they're downloaded or not, it doesn't matter.
I've found that the issue occurs when I'm playing my playlist on one device, and I switch (maybe from PC to Car or something), that's when I'll notice my queue of my playlist is cut down to 5 songs, (never 4 or 6 or anything else- always 5 lol).
I've found that, even though Spotty SHOWS me in a playlist that I was previously listening to, when I go back through my library and select the playlist again, it will then show the full playlist in the queue again. Even though it will already show the last song that I was listening to highlighted, it'll have the full list instead of the just the current and next 4 songs.
DEFINTELY not a "fix" but at least a work-around 🙂
I'm sorry if someone has already posted at least this much. I did not want to read through all 9 pages. I figured if it was fixed, people wouldn't still be posting about it... (right?...)
Not sure if this helps in this conversation, but I had a very similar situation using Open Spotify. It didn't seem to matter whether I was playing a playlist, or a Daily Mix, or whatever. It would play the first song in the queue, and then go back to repeat a song that I listened to yesterday (that was not on any of the playlists).
I looked at the queue when I first started, and it looked normal, and I returned to the home screen. It would then play that same song again. I would try a different playlist, the queue would look normal, it would play the first song, and then repeat that other song.
After repeating that a couple of times, I went back to the queue, and the normal queue had been replaced with 50 copies of that troublesome song. I cleared the queue, it repopulated with my playlist, and so far, it has behaved as it's supposed to.
Hello this same exact issue has been happening to any playlist we are playing today; a playlist created by me, it repeats the same song it just played. We tried taking it off shuffle, it didn’t help, we switched to a Spotify playlist and it is doing the same thing. It is repeating the same song twice. This has started happening since yesterday. We have IOS IPAd 3 (17.6.1) and Sonos speakers.

My Question or Issue
Shouldn't the queue match the playlist you're listening to? 99 out of a hundred times, mine doesn't. Even though the queue says "Next From: (playlist name). So when I want to listen to a playlist, and a song is done, the next song comes from my queue. THAT song is NOT the next song on the playlist. So I have to constantly return to the playlist list and manually play the next song that is SUPPOSED to be playing. And as of recently, when I do go back to my playlist list, instead of showing where I was in the playlist, it automatically shows the beginning of the playlist, so NOW I have to scroll down to find where I was and click the song that's SUPPOSED to be playing. I AM a premium member. I have a Google Pixel 6, and this has been going on for as long as I can remember. Why can't this be fixed? I think the easiest fix would be to give an option to disable the queue!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I have NEVER added songs to the queue
And the issue carries over into 2025 with no permanent fix yet.

Happening as I'm writing this while listening to an artist playlist (Princewhateverer), about 5 songs are being repeated and nothing else. They have more then 5 songs.
