Dear Spotify Community,
I've scanned the boards and seen that some other posts refer to playlist downloading problems for HTC Evo V users. There have also been general complaints about the app's functionality on the EVO V. I'm writing to join the chorus.
1) I'm regularly unable to download playlists.
To be clear, some of the playlist selected via mobile or desktop do, in fact, download for listen offline. The problem is that I've been unable to determine a cause of the failure to download other playlist I've added. To troubleshoot, I've tried (1) uninstalling and re-installing the app, in addition to rebooting the EVO (2) canceling the download and trying again (2) initiating the download while using a WiFi connection, while using 3G, and using 4G. I noted that one community member's comment suggested that the app was incompatible with 4G and I've since altered my set-up to no avail.
2) The app frequently displays a "No Internet Connection" message
The No Internet Connection banner along the bottom of the screen appears frequently-- even when I'm located in a place with access to 3G or 4G networks. As can be imagined, the false "No Internet Connection" problem compounds the frustration stemming from the app's inability to download some playlists for offline listening.
The bargain of using the app is to access preferred playlist during, for example, subway commutes where data connections are spotty. I, like many of the app's users, are subway or el commuters at least twice daily. We may also work in buildings were wireless data connections are weak. If the app 1) fails to download playlist for offline listening and 2) fails to access data connections when they're likely available, then having the app isn't providing its intended service.
3) But I am a Spotify Evangelist!
Seriously, I have told just about everyone I've encountered that Spotify is the best thing since sliced bread. No, really, without exaggeration. Like many people, music is a huge part of my day and Spotify's promise undoubtedly increases the enjoyment I can have just from scrolling through its nearly limitless catalog. I really want to continue my out-sized fandom for an obviously paradigm-shifting app and service. Are there any indications that HTC Evo users will soon enjoy the ease of use, reliability, and functionality the app deserves? I have one more day til my billing cycle restarts and I'm likely to discontinue paying for a service that has proven so inconsistent in reliability and functionality.
