Re-downloading songs automatically

This is the 3rd year of this issue. I've had a Sony/iPhone/Samsung and OnePlus 3 in this timeframe and the issue is the same accross all of them.
No matter what I do, Spotify downloads 3.6 GBs of music automatically even though I've switched it off and the playlist doesn't exist anymore (the one I once downloaded)
I can see this is a common issue and like say has been happening for a couple of years, now as much as I do love Spotify... It's no longer the only option on music streaming.
I have had Spotify look into this approximately 3 times and its always down to my device, not Spotify. Nothing is ever Spotify s fault obviously.
Can anyone help? If not I will be moving elsewhere unfortunately.
