Removed the ability to shuffle play all playlist in a folder?

Solved!

Removed the ability to shuffle play all playlist in a folder?

In the new update for the Android app, it seems they removed the option to play all playlist in a folder, is that true? I used it all the time because I follow a lot of playlist and to be able to listen to them all in shuffle mode where fantastic... 😞 So is it really true or am I missing something?

I suggest we all give negative feedback on GOOGLE STORE until they listen. Rockstar didn't listen to their costumers until the players gave negative reviews on GTA5 on Steam.

I just made playlists in playlist forgetting that they took the ability off. I really liked it why did they even remove the feature?

Just did this! I'm also sending a link to this thread almost everyday to the Spotify Team on twitter.

Checking every update on my iPhone to see if they finally brought this feature back. 😞 unfortunately nothing. I have lots of playlists sorted in folders by genres. I used to be able to just shuffli all my playlists that were in such a folder, and loved it... How weird to remove such a nice feature.

Please add your vote here, with enough votes, Spotify may listen to us...

Hi, on my phone I reverted to an older version I had on a backup and disabled autoupdate for that app. I've no idea if newer versions allow to shuffle multiple folders.

many thanks from mexico, worked perfectly, spotify does not want to fix this function

I too am one who is frustrated that we can no longer shuffle playlists and are maxed at 10,000 songs. I am not sure if it will get us anywhere, but I just had an extexsive conversation with a Spotify rep..

Info: Hey there! Thanks for contacting Spotify Support. You're chatting with Danna L.

NOTE: So we don't get disconnected, please do not navigate away to another browser or app during this chat.
Info: I am a long time Spotify user. I as many more are getting frustrated over your 10000 limit and removal to shuffle folders, playlists, etc. We pay for a premium service which included these features but they have been taken away with no reflection to price! I as many are seriously considering going to another service and writing negative reveiws on what was once a great service! Please do your dedicated customers a favor and at these perks back!!!

Info:
Danna L: I'm really sorry to hear you're having issues using your Premium features.
Danna L: I'll definitely look into this for you.
Ernie Houle: “My premium features” yes this is why I am a paying customer and these features have been taken away.
Danna L: I can see that your Facebook-created account is the one active.
Ernie Houle: Yes
Danna L: Is this the one you're currently logged into?
Ernie Houle: Yes
Danna L: Please try reinstalling the app on your device.
Ernie Houle: The feature has been removed. Nobody has the features on their devices
Danna L: Did they already try reinstalling the app?
Ernie Houle: I don’t know, talking about every Spotify user
Danna L: Sorry to hear you're unhappy with the changes in the recent Spotify update.

We're always testing things by adding or removing features to make Spotify better overall.

We can't say if or when any specific features will be back, but as soon as we’ve got anything to announce we’ll let everyone know over on the Spotify Community at http://community.spotify.com/.
Ernie Houle: I just uninstalled and reinstalled the features are not there
Danna L: Can you send me the screenshot of what you're seeing right now?
Ernie Houle: How?
Danna L: Please tap the red dot above to send the attachment.
Ernie Houle: Just sent, no option to shuffle folders
Danna L: Thank you for sending the screenshot.
Danna L: Please try reinstalling the app on your device.
Ernie Houle: I did
Danna L: How about using other device?
Ernie Houle: This is the same for every Spotify customer
Ernie Houle: Desktop you can shuffle but not mobile device and we are limited to 10000 songs.
Danna L: Thank you for the information.
Ernie Houle: These issues are all over the community. As paying customers it is quite frustrating
Danna L: I completely understand the frustration about the limit of songs you can download for each device.
Danna L: We might look to try new ways to listen. It’s also a way for us to introduce new features that actually work, and fine-tune the app to be compatible with specific devices.
Danna L: Thanks for the feedback! We’ll pass it onto the right folks.

You can also add suggestions to our Community ideas board: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Idea-Submissions/idb-p/ideas_submissions/. Spotify does keep an eye on the most popular requests.
Ernie Houle: Not even a download issue. I only download time to time. My issue is the 10000 songs max I can have in a playlist. The workaround was to create another playlist then shuffle the playlists. You can do this via desktop, but not on a mobile device like prior.
Ernie Houle: We’ve added these complaints to the community boards but it’s constantly ignored. We had these great features and they were gone in a day. I’d pay more for Spotify to get them back!
Danna L: I completely understand. All saved songs, and all songs in a saved album (plus the album itself) count towards the 10,000 limit. For example, if you save an album with 10 tracks, it's counted as 11 tracks.
Danna L: If your collection is so awesome you run out of room, I highly recommend that you can add tracks to your playlists.
Danna L: This is the best option that we can suggest and a great way to organize your songs based on their genre.
Ernie Houle: My play list is maxed out which is fine but I should have the option like in the past to shuffle playlists
Danna L: Can you confirm what is the version of your Spotify app and the model of your device?
Ernie Houle: Cant be to hard to implemnet back it was there once then gone it’s on the desktop version still
Ernie Houle: How Can I send a screenshot again?
Danna L: Please tap the red dot above to send the attachment.
Ernie Houle: Just sent
Danna L: Thank you very much.
Danna L: When you tap on one of the songs, can you select it again and check if you will be able to see the Shuffle button.
Ernie Houle: I can shuffle within a playlist but no longer have the option to shuffle playlists
Danna L: I'm still working on this. Please bear with me a little bit longer, and stay on this screen so we don't get disconnected.
Ernie Houle: No problem
Danna L: Thank you for your patience.
Danna L: Since you're unable to move your playlists or shuffle it like the way you can do on your desktop PC, the best that I can do is to send a feedback backstage about this request.
Ernie Houle: It’s been posted time and again in the community but it’s always ignored. As I said this was a feature a while back but was removed yet we are still paying the same price for Spotify
Danna L: I understand where you're coming from. I would really love to have it returned to your app. However, some features were removed to give way to other improvements for the app.
Danna L: If you'd like to re-shuffle your playlists, I suggest doing so in your desktop app.
Danna L: Please be assured that if you arranged your playlists on your desktop app, it will be updated on your mobile app as well.
Ernie Houle: Vital features were removed, what was added we never see. We just get a msg saying new features are added all the time. Having more than 10000 songs and being able to shuffle playlists would push Spotify over their competition!
Ernie Houle: I am the voice of many trust me! Your competition is already doing it.
Danna L: At Spotify, we’re primarily music and entertainment fans, so our biggest passion is creating the best way to experience both. We use tests on small groups of listeners to evaluate what we should and shouldn’t roll out permanently. This means you might sometimes see something your friend doesn’t, or have access to something brand new for only a temporary period.
Danna L: Your feedback is important to us! You can still express your thoughts about any features at https://community.spotify.com/. The right folks definitely keep track of the most requested features. And we're not stop doing all the way to keep on improving the app.
Ernie Houle: But it seems common sense to have a feature to shuffle playlists. Other services allow this.
Ernie Houle: Where Can I get a transcript of our conversation? I’d love to post this to the community
Danna L: To save a copy of our conversation:

1. Tap the + button in the bottom-left of this window.
2. Tap Email transcript.
3. Enter your email address.

The full transcript will be emailed to you when we've finished chatting.
Info: At the end of this chat, I'll send a transcript to you at djerniehoule@gmail.com.

Danna L: Please let me know if I can provide any other additional support.

Thank you for the transcript of the chat.
It is almost laughable the customer support representative asks you to uninstall and reinstall the app, as if this would make a difference.
To me, Spotify does not deserve the level of attention and customers it is getting, the features are simply way below even common sense. The only problem is that, since MS killed Groove, the only other option is Apple music, and I will never give money to Apple not even if the world is burning.
I guess the only option truly left is the one that will never let you down (raising my hook-hand in the air, adjusting eye-patch and murmuring “Yarr mates”)

Oooh arrrr @user-removed. Honestly, that transcript made me laugh. I would have hoped that the CS staff would be a bit more in touch with reality and not keep falling back on their pet "reinstall" offering no matter what the issue is. Maybe they get paid a bonus for every reinstallation as it swells the total downloads shown on Play?

Really Spotify, what has happened to the quality support we used to receive a couple of years ago? What we're seeing in the community has all the signs of a business on the brink of failure.

What was the last Spotify iPhone version that supported playlist folder shuffle?  As of 10/25/2017 I have version 8.4.24.506 on my iPhone.  I've read that version 7.6.0.1219.1678 has the folder shuffle.  Where can I get an old version of Spotify for my iPhone?  Thanks.

Sorry. I need to move this post to the iPhone section.  Apologies.

Why would you ask such questions in the android section @hand123?

That transcript almost read as though it was from a bot, shocking service all round. I can't believe Spotify haven't even got as far as making a statement about this screw up yet, it's been months.

Sorry. My mistake. I’ll move my post to the iPhone section.

This is a bit tedious but it is a workaround to this problem. Open spotify
on a pc & create a playlist in your folder called 'master' or similar. Then
select each of the other playlists, albums or songs in the folder one by
one, click on the top song, click shift then the last song to highlight
all. Then copy them to the master. On a phone or tablet you will then be
able to select the master playlist and shuffle all. Updating it is a pain
and i tend to do it every 3 or 4 months.

CTRL-A works too.

7.5.0.1023 certainly does . This is a version I was able to recover from my backup as soon as I downloaded the version with it missing.  Lucky that it hadn’t been overwritten as Apple do not keep historical versions.

Not on Android it doesn't

I still hate Spotify for removing this feature and will always do till they put it back. Meanwhile, I named my playlist that gathers all my songs of a folder: "Play all [f*ck you Spotify]", which I have to update every f*cking day :). It makes me feel better, maybe an attempt to call their attention.
