Save songs and albums separately

Save songs and albums separately

Prior to today, when I saved a song it could be found under "library- songs" and when I saved an album it could be found under "library - albums". Today, when I save a song, the album (with just that one song) is added to "library - album", and when I save an album, all the songs are saved under "library - songs". Is this a bug or a new feature? Is there a way to revert to the old behavior? I prefer to keep saved songs and saved albums separate.

I'm a bit confused as saving an album always used to also save the songs and saving a song also saved the album but, from what I understand, this was changed for those users who got the new "Me" tab where saving an album no longer saved the songs. I assumed this was to get around the 10,000 saved song limit.

Do you have the "Me" tab?

No, I do not have a "me" tab. I'm running the latest version of Android and Spotify.

Well, as I said, it's always been like that for me. Check out this idea.

Thanks for the insight Joe. Are you also using Android?

All the albums I saved previously are empty of songs, see attached screenshot. The screenshot is for an album I saved previously that used to include all the songs. Now it says "You haven't saved anything from 'album x'. Save this album to keep it in your library". This despite the fact that I accessed the album by navigating "your library" - "albums".

My primary problem with the new organization is that I don't want saved albums to add all the album songs to my library of "songs". It's also annoying to have albums added to my list of albums which only include only one song, the song I saved. It clutters my album list with albums I don't want, this is why I saved the song and not the album.

Yeah I'm on android. All I can think is that Spotify have been testing different versions on different people. I've been using spotify for years and saving albums has always saved the songs and artist and, as you can see from the links, I'm not alone.

I handle this by saving one song from an album, which shows up in both the "songs" and "albums" lists, Going to either, right click and chose "go to album".

One wonders what the Spotify gods are thinking, although "thinking" is probably too generous.
