Songs are playing muted but counter ticks SGS4

Ive had this problem for a few days now on the latest Android released version of Spotify. Counter ticks but volume is muted. When unplugging the headset its working but whenever changing tracks I have to re-insert the headphones.. I want my monthly fee back!

Dont tell me that I should check the volume settings. And by the way - lots of people have the exact same problem - just check the comments in Play Store..... Voted one star for now.

Do you have any kind of audio effects turned on at all? I'm not 100% familiar with the S4 settings.

I started noticing this yesterday on my HTC One X. There have not been any updates on my device. 

Sometimes when skipping tracks or when the next track starts playing I can hear a sound in my headphones like I just unplugged them and the song plays silently. If I pause and unpause straight away it starts playing again from the start.

Already tried clearing all of spotify cache and reinstalling. No luck. This does not happen when listening to offline playlists.

This is clearly an issue with the spotify app. If some from spotify want help from me to pinpoint the issue I would be glad to help (I'm a software developer). I can be reached by my username @ gmail.

For your information. New rom. Same issue. Mainly when listening to any radio station.
