Liked Songs playlist doesn't play songs

Liked Songs playlist doesn't play songs

Spotify will not play songs from my Liked songs playlist. Itโ€™s only the Liked songs playlist that doesn't play songs - others are fine. When I try to click on a song it stops anything else that is playing but does not start playing any new track. There are no error messages.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Android 14. I have no SD card.

Spotify 9.0.14.561. Premium subscription.

Other devices are fine.

Clean reinstall does not work (including checking for co.spotify.music files etc.).

Other users have the same problem and have been for a number of years. The issue comes and goes but always comes back.

I have tried to get Spotify Support to fix this many times and they have never been able to. I always get passed from one person to the next over many days, each one starting again asking me the same questions. Whenever I raise this, the support person abandons me, cutting me off without saying anything, then I get passed to yet another person who starts again asking the same questions. There is clearly no accountability or tracking resolutions with Spotify Support staff. So far, every one of the following support staff has done this:

Hello! I think I might have found a fix!

I encountered the exact same problem as everyone else in this thread.

What I tried was putting my phone in airplane mode, and the "buggy song" disappeared from my Liked Songs playlist. Strangely, my playlist contains 1,812 songs, but when I switched to airplane mode, all the "buggy" songs disappeared. For example, I had Pachelbel's Canon in D downloaded, just like all the other songs in the playlist, but it disappeared from the playlist in airplane mode.

So, I decided to deactivate (and delete) the downloaded songs from Spotify, and it fixed the issue!

I believe that some songs were corrupted, and Spotify might have been trying to read the downloaded version to avoid using 5G data.

Hi, glad you managed to fix your issue. Just to clarify, your buggy songs were downloaded, so you deleted your download data and then the y played fine?

My songs are not downloaded so I wouldn't have thought that's an issue, unless Spotify is loading songs into cache without me realising before they come up in the playlist?

My Question or Issue

As stated in the subject, there are a few songs that don't play when I click on them in the library, however they play fine when I change into them using the "next song" button from previous songs. What's more interesting is that these songs with issues are 2 groups of consecutive songs when sorted by titles (I have 5 songs starting with "Ma" that has this problem, while other songs also starting with "Ma" don't), and I have one song that has this issue in my library that's also in a separate playlist, and that song works completely fine in said separate playlist, so I think this is a library only issue. I've tried everything from lcearing cache, logging out and in again, even reinstalling, but nothing has worked.

I have the same problem and I am on Android 15 Samsung Galaxy S25. Problem occurs when I sort songs by artist.

SAME **bleep**

They were downloaded, but I canceled everything, emptied the cache etc...

Then it worked, so for me it was probably corrupted song files.

Also I have unlimited data plan, so Spotify is not in any data-economic mod, so maybe he put less song in the cache that way ?

How did you do that? I deleted the downloaded songs and then cleared cache and re-downloaded them but issue persists. Even though I unlike then like the songs again nothing hapoens.

I didnt re-downloaded them.

Did you try by just deactivating the download + emptying cache, then listening your playlist by using internet ?

Because i never downloaded them again

Hey folks,

The team has been able to identify the issue, and a fix will be deployed in a future version of the app. Be sure to keep automatic updates switched on, so you get the fix when itโ€™s ready: https://support.spotify.com/article/updating-spotify/

I am using a iPhone 13 Pro and my liked song are not playing I tried everything

When Iโ€™m scrolling in my liked music on my some songs will not play when I click on them. I will click on a song and one will play and then Iโ€™ll scroll down and click a different one and it causes the music bar to completely disappear. Itโ€™s the same songs over and over again like certain songs are unplayable even though I know theyโ€™re allowed in my country. Iโ€™m connected to Wi-Fi. Iโ€™m updated to the correct version. Iโ€™ve reinstalled the app. Iโ€™ve checked that Iโ€™m in the correct country. Not sure what else to do.

Hi @tuay2dgayee8tfuvlli3, thanks for reaching out.

Does it only happen when you play your Liked Songs or also with other playlists?

Try logging into your Spotify account on a different device (another computer, phone, tablet).

If the songs do play elsewhere, the issue might be related to your device.

You can also try playing the same songs on the Spotify Web Player instead of the desktop app.

  • If they work there but not on your app, it could be an issue with cache, settings, or installation.

Let me know how it goes!

Itโ€™s only happening under my liked songs.Itโ€™s also only happening on this device. And itโ€™s only when I scroll down manually to look for them. When I search the same song either on the search tab or search it inside like songs it will play. Itโ€™s just when I scroll down to look for it that it wonโ€™t play. my music plays just fine on my computer, but not on my phone.

I see, and what's your phone model?

Did it start after an update or something?

I have an iPhone 14 Plus. It just happened this past week not sure if it was an update or not, but I did just update it today to the most recent software, thinking it would help, but it didnโ€™t.

That's odd...

If you play the faulty song on your computer and switch the playback to your phone, does it work?

If not, could you delete those songs and add them back to see if it helps?

Switching it from my computer to my phone will play the sound and adding it back works, but I have over 3000 liked songs and most of them arenโ€™t playing. I wouldnโ€™t be able to re-like all of them.

Hey @tuay2dgayee8tfuvlli3,

My phone quit playing some of the songs in my Liked Songs (meaning only some of them play when I tap them and the ones that do load are the same ones). I have a premium plan and when I tap to play a song, my music bar just goes away and there is no sign of it loading. It doesn't play the song at all, either. It's for quite a few songs that I can tell, too. I already tried uninstalling the app. I'll try moving to my desktop, but I mostly listen to it on my phone and I don't have a second one. It was working fine a couple of days ago.

I already cleared the cache, and tried on multiple networks. Both my phone and the spotify app are up to date as well. None of the apps appear to be grayed out either.
