Spotify Android 13 cannot login -fixed - but had to use a VPN to pretend i was in different place

For the benefit of everyone else out here, whose life is wasted by apps with non-sensical errors  and google android region rubbish

Issue: suddenly cant login to phone app.

Actions taken:

using Pc - i have reset password. There were problems logging in via Pc until i did this.

Back on the phone i have...

• uninstalled / re installed
• restarted phone  -twice now.
• deleted cache &data even after reinstall

Actual fail message: 

something went wrong  /have another go?

try again  /dismiss.

Absolutely useless - @Spotify please fix this. At least on a browser you can see the http response codes

More investigation:

I cannot log in on phone (but i can log in on PC). This is the first time i ever had spotify problems. Has anyone had android login problems recently? And how do they diagnose it? 

i tried the weird login without password option. It doesnt work either. However the email was sent in Polish.So that was a clue.  I spend months in different countries. Could it be something to do with android region fail/incompatbility with spotfiy  app?

I  used VPN to setup my phone to be in Poland. Next thing no problem logging in to Spotify. I only had to do this once, as it seemed to cache the credentials.

Glad you've found a workaround!
Please note that on the free service you can only use your app for up to 14 days in a country different than what is registered on the account. It looks to me like this is what has been causing your hurdles 🙂
