I have a Yamaha RX-V577 reciever with Spotify Connect and update to the last firmware.
When I try to connect spotify using the Android APP, I see the device but cannot conect to it.
What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?
1. I star a song
2. Click on the speaker sign with a circle, and click on the receptor (Yahama device).
3. The grey rounder speaker sign goes from grey to green and the sound waves moves (like tryng to connect).
4. After a while it goes back to grey.
IMPORTANT I dont know how sometimes it works, dunno how but after trying alot yesterday It worked. But cannot reproduce it.

THANK YOU
I've been trying to figure out this problem for months - turning WMM off on my router instantly made the receiver show up.
I'm using a Yamaha RX-V679 for anyone else who might be looking for a solution to this problem.
Excuse me guys, what's WMM?
Any one having problem with firmware 1.91 an Wifi on Yamaha 840? My 840 keeps loosing contact all the time.
The same problem with my Yamaha R-N500, the connection is terrible.
Firmware version is 1.13
Given the comments on this forum, it seems to me that Spotify and Yamaha do not talk anymore with each other.... 😞
Hello,
Finally I've changed the ISP and from that time everything works perfect. This is second day that it's working without issues but I can see already now that Spotify on my Yamaha works fast and reliable. It can be that spotify has problems with some sources of internet connection like many switches between the DSL and Receiver or at least this can be taken for consideration during the troubleshooting. You can test it with different sources of internet like e.g. wi-fi from mobile phone or other.
Did you changed of Sevice provider or have you changed the IP-address from the amplifier?
Hi, I changed the internet service provider, not IP. When I did a test with internet from spot wifi from my mobile and also it was working fine.
All of a sudden i only see google cast option on my sony STR1060 AVR.
I use this daily and do not know what happened !!! BS
I want to select devices ,spotify connect and not have to use the googlecast option.
Man this is getting annoying
My advice: Do not buy Yamaha Musiccast. I have tried everything, but keep on having connection issues. Even wired is a problem. Does not support 5 Ghz and the app is not user friendly at all. Better stay with Sonos. Yamaha Musiccast is not properly developed yet. Very dissapointing as sound is superb., but a challenge to listen to when no connection.
Tried a number of things in this thread with my RX-V777 (I'm new to Spotify so I have no idea of it ever worked) and with the RX-V777 on WiFi I could not see it from Spotify on a PC or an Android. Could not find a way to swtich of WMM on my router so I switched to a wired connection between the RX-V777 and everything is working as expected. DHCP on or off, works fine.
Seems to be related to WiFi and Yamaha - dunno but the router and the amp live next to each other in my place anyway so I'm happy 🙂
