Spotify Connect shows device model instead of device name - how to change?

My Question or Issue

Bought a new Galaxy S20, renamed it on the phone to "My Galaxy S20" and registered it on Google with exactly this name. However on Spotify Connect (desktop and my other phone) the new device shows up with its model number SM-G780G. My other phone shows up correctly with its given name. How to change the model number to the device name for my new Galaxy S20?

First up, we suggest that you log out from your account > restart your device > then log back in. Make sure to do this on all your devices. 

If this doesn't do the trick, we'd recommend reinstalling the app by following these steps.

Did both. Neither worked. Spotify Connect still shows SM-G780G 😞

BTW: I'm logged in via Facebook. Is there a way to change that to E-Mail without loosing the subscription. Want to leave Facebook.

Thanks for getting back to us!

Sometimes, the name that's displayed depend on the specific device and installed OS and in some cases the personalized name is hidden in order to increase privacy.

To answer your second question - you can change your log in method with e-mail without losing your subscription. In order to do that - go to your account page > click Edit profile > under E-mail enter the e-mail address that you want to use, reset your password then confirm it and click on Save profile.

Note: Make sure you're using your browser when you're trying to make modifications on your account.

After you do that you can use your e-mail to log in and that this way you can keep using your Spotify account even after you decide to close your FB account.
